Rachel Lovins, MD, CPE, SFHM, FACP,

Associate Medical Director

Dr. Rachel Lovins is board certified in Internal Medicine and has a certificate in Palliative Care. She is a Certified Physician Executive through the American Association for Physician Leadership. She is on faculty at the Yale and Dartmouth Schools of Medicine and continues to practice hospital medicine in Vermont. 

After graduating from Brandeis University with high honors in fine arts, she studied pre-med at Hunter College and then attended Yale University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Yale where she stayed on as faculty for 8 years.  Dr. Lovins has been involved in clinical quality, education and engagement in her roles as faculty, Department Chair and Vice President in several hospitals in the Northeast. 

With her experience in education Dr. Lovins is particularly interested in patient engagement and understanding. She has a lifelong dedication to diversity equity and inclusion and has been able to lead change through chairing the Ethics Committee, Schwartz Rounds, and a Transgender Medicine committee at several hospitals. She has given community talks and Grand Rounds on the importance of the patient experience and ways the medical community can improve it.  

Dr. Rachel Lovins is especially interested in working towards removing the stigma and shame of illness so patients can get the help they need. She and her husband live in Vermont with their two dogs and have three grown children. In her spare time she plays music, raises bees, knits, hikes and canoes.
