About Your teachers want to talk about you as a person, not as a grade. This means you don't necessarily have to choose the teachers of the classes in which you have the highest grade. Rather, choose the teachers that know the most about you and have something insightful to say about you!

Hey guys, so I’m here to talk about teacher recommendations. These are a really important part of the application process because they give the application readers another perspective about how you are as a student and as a person.

So, from my personal experience, I actually asked my AP Spanish teacher and my Physics teacher and these were two of my hardest classes from junior year. And, as a disclaimer, I didn’t have A’s in either of these classes, and why I say this is don’t necessarily ask teachers where you have the highest grade in their class because that doesn’t always show everything about you. It shows that maybe you can take tests well, maybe you can write essays, but what the application readers are looking for is really an insight into you as a person.

So if you get the chance or the opportunity, get to know two or three of your teachers really well. Talk to them about your extracurricular activities, your family, just what you’re doing outside of school because, after all you know, you are more than just what you are in school.

So, I would say don’t necessarily ask teachers with the highest grade, keep showing your work ethic because that’s more important than the actual grade, and just become good friends with a few of your teachers because in the end, your friends will write you the best recommendations.
