Hi my name is Kevin and I'm freshman at Duke University in the Trinity College of Arts and Sciences and I’m intending to be a math and econ major. For economics the intro course that most people take is econ 51. There’s a lot of econ majors at this school, for example in econ 51 there’s about 350 students. Because of that, the class tends to be really hard. It’s what they like to call a weed-out class. The average of the class, it’s scaled to a B- but it’s really more like a high C, low B. It’s right in there, you can’t really tell. Typically the tests are very hard and the workload is very high.
It does a really good job of giving you a general view of economics. It gives you a conservative’s and liberal’s and maybe even radical view. What it does is it basically throws everything economics at you, micro and macro. You really get a feel for whether or not you want to do economics after the first semester. I hope this video has been helpful!
